Isn't This My Fight?

As this thought that our family was most likely biologically complete spun in my mind, I desperately ignored it. It felt like admitti...

Another Wagner Baby: 39 Weeks

  • How far along: 39 weeks! Praying that Levi comes safely ASAP!
  • Gender: Boy!
  • Weight gain: +1 lb. this week, overall weight gain is +33 lbs.
  • Maternity clothes: I have been avoiding going out into the hot Texas heat but if I do, I have been wearing my maternity jean shorts - so comfy! At home I have these ratty non-maternity shorts that I have been wearing....or just no pants haha!
  • Stretch marks: YES. No more details ;-)
  • Belly Button In/Out: It's completely flat - so weird!
  • Sleep: I have not been sleeping well this week at all. It's actually quite miserable and I've come to dread bedtime because I know it means trying to sleep....and I won't be able to. I just can't get comfortable (even with my barricade of pillows) and having to get up to go to the bathroom multiple times throughout the night makes it hard to stay asleep (plus, I have to un-barricade myself from my pillows to get up and then try to rearrange them the way they were when I get back into bed, ugh!). I know I need good sleep/rest this week since labor is inevitable in the next week or so, but it's just not happening.
  • Best moment this week: MY MOMMA IS HERE!!!!
  • Worst moment this week: Aside from not sleeping well at night, I've actually been feeling a little bit better - which is weird cuz you think I would just keep experiencing more and more intense contractions/misery but I haven't really! However I did have a moment in the middle of the night where I experienced pretty intense heartburn/reflux. I propped myself up and put digize essential oil on my upper tummy and sipped some water but it felt like my chest was on fire! Thankfully it ended up going away after awhile, but no more cereal before bed for me!
  • Miss anything: I'm just pretty much ready to not have this belly anymore! I can't really hold/rock Daphne like I used to and I've been so uncomfortable at night.
  • Movement: Levi has been moving less this week, but when he does move it's usually at night and it's usually all his "dance party moves" haha
  • Symptoms: Third trimester symptoms can be a little TMI, so read with caution. Gas, mild contractions, mild constipation, loose stool, spotting, menstrual-like cramps, lower/middle back pain, excessive mucus, frequent urination, indigestion, upper tummy feels tingly, "lightning crotch", emotional, swollen feet and swollen hands.
  • Cravings: I've gone through two boxes of Cinnamon Toast Crunch this week....
  • Queasy or sick: Neither, just some heartburn.
  • Looking forward to: Having this baby!! And introducing Daphne and Levi, bringing him home and finding our new "normal"!

Another Wagner Baby: 38 Weeks

  • How far along: 38 weeks - we're in the home stretch!
  • Gender: Boy!
  • Weight gain: +3 lbs. this week, putting my overall weight gain at +32 lbs.
  • Maternity clothes: It's pretty much leggings and maternity tops all day at home and I've been loving any kind of maxi skirt or dress to go out or sometimes my tried and true side panel maternity jeans. It's SO HOT here in Texas! I've also been wearing my nighttime nursing bra most of the time at home, it's much more comfortable.
  • Stretch marks: Oh yes, and I seem to have given up on the lotion. Stretch marks are part of having babies, so it is what it is.
  • Sleep: I've been going to sleep relatively easily this week and getting back to sleep easily after having to use the restroom 832098524 million times a night, whew! But I've been waking up around 6:30/7:00 consistently and having a hard time going back to sleep so I usually just go ahead and wake up. For those wondering, yes my daughter is a late sleeper! She usually wakes up between 8:30 and 9:30!
  • Best moment this week: This would absolutely have to be the fact that we were generously given several Amazon gift cards that afforded us the opportunity to buy our double stroller! We were absolutely blown away by our incredibly generous friends and family and we are so excited to have gotten a very safe, durable and versatile double stroller. We decided on the Baby Jogger City Select Double Stroller and are so excited for it to arrive next week! We are truly blessed with some very giving people in our lives.
  • Worst moment this week: On Thursday I woke up and realized that I had started to lose my mucus plug and had had some spotting. This pre labor symptom along with some pretty consistent and strong contractions made me think that maybe something was starting. I tried to drink water and lay down but after a few intense contractions while my daughter was crying and climbing all over me and some maintenance guys were fixing a major drywall situation in our bedroom, I decided to call my husband. I wasn't sure what was happening but the contractions were pretty consistent (about 5 minutes apart lasting for about a minute) and their intensity was making it impossible to take care of Daphne who was already upset because she could see that I was in pain. Carson came home and the drywall guys left, we continued to track the contractions and my husband graciously cleaned the whole apartment (I don't know why but all I could think was "If this is labor, I need to clean the bathrooms, sweep the kitchen, vacuum...."). The contractions continued all day and through a chiropractor appointment (where our sweet chiropractor prayed over us) that evening and a pretty big grocery haul afterwards. The strong contractions became more sporadic but when they hit, I could barely walk and definitely not talk through them. I wasn't sure what to think! I kept reminding myself that if this was true labor the contractions would get strong and stay strong and continue in consistency. After Daphne's bedtime we moved our hospital bags out by the door, just in case. We tracked the contractions a bit longer and then decided to go to bed and hope that if this was "it" that we would have enough time to rush to the hospital in time for an epidural. Imagine my mixed emotions when I continued to have contractions throughout the night while I slept and woke up to no baby and no true labor. Ugh! I've since been having on and off strong contractions and definitely a lot more discomfort. These last few weeks of pregnancy are no cake-walk.
  • Miss anything: As much as I have loved carrying our son and I feel so blessed to be able to have another child, I think I'm at that point in my pregnancy where I'm feeling ready to not be pregnant anymore. The back pain, the contractions...on top of the hot Texas summer...I'm ready to have this little boy.
  • Movement: He hasn't been moving as much as he used to, which again I'm chalking up to the fact that he has less room in there, I've been trying not to let it get me worried. Sometimes I push on my belly to try to get him to move or feel something and I instantly regret the crazy dance party that ensues.
  • Symptoms: Third trimester symptoms can be a little TMI, so read with caution. Gas, strong contractions, mild constipation, menstrual-like cramps, constant lower/upper back pain, excessive mucus, frequent urination, indigestion, tender and painful breasts, upper tummy feels tingly, "lightning crotch".
  • Cravings: I was a little bit cranky this week after having contractions all day and night on Thursday/Friday but it was nothing a whole lot of chocolate couldn't fix. Chocolate (specifically Twix bars and Snickers bars) has been hitting the spot and putting a smile on my face this week.
  • Queasy or sick: Neither really! Maybe a bit of indigestion after some meals.
  • Looking forward to: My Mom is coming NEXT WEEK!!! I am just so beyond excited and I know I will feel so relived when she gets here and even more anxious to meet my sweet Levi!

Another Wagner Baby: 37 Weeks

  • How far along: 37 weeks! -- soooo close!!
  • Gender: Definitely ALL boy. We had a sonogram appointment this past week and I asked the tech to just double check for me. Levi is definitely a boy - and I am most definitely a little bit terrified, hah!
  • Weight gain: + 2 lbs. this week. Overall weight gain is +29 lbs.
  • Maternity clothes: My side panel maternity jeans are still a favorite, leggings and comfy maternity tops as well! I've started wearing a nighttime nursing top around the house and at bedtime, it just feels more comfortable.
  • Stretch marks: The "roadmap" is still very much there. And again, I'm hopelessly applying lotion almost every day to try to turn back the hands of time.
  • Sleep: I've been sleeping much better this week! We had a pretty busy weekend with friends in town so there were a couple nights where I went to bed late and felt tired the next day but for the most part I've finally figured out a good sleeping position with just the right amount of pillows! I'm still having to go the bathroom multiple times throughout the night but I've been going back to sleep just fine. My bedtime routine is actually pretty intense, hah! I feel like such an old lady but I have been loving going to bed around 8:30/9:00 (I actually think that going to bed earlier and getting better sleep has helped with my anxiety issues, I haven't had a panic attack or major anxiety since I started going to bed earlier!). After I wash my face and brush my teeth, I make sure I have a full water bottle on my bedside table, take my prenatal vitamin and my inhaler, apply chapstick (I don't know why but I love the feeling of Burts Bees chapstick before bed), turn on the small fan by my bed, turn on my "orby music" that I listen to while I sleep, apply peace + calming to my shoulders and behind my ears (and sometimes magnesium oil!), put in my night guard (I grind my teeth pretty bad), hoist myself into bed and situate the pillows just right until I'm comfortable. Like I said, its pretty intense! Hah!
  • Best moment this week: We had such a wonderful weekend with our friends and their two kids in town for a couple days! They came to meet our other friend's baby boy but we were lucky enough to get to host them and spend some quality time with them before our own baby boy comes! Another highlight for this week was getting to see Levi again in our sonogram! It's so crazy how much he's grown and developed since the last time we saw him. It will most likely be the last time we get to see him before we're holding him in our arms!
  • Worst moment this week: When I went to the ER last week they needed to give me an IV for fluids, our nurse was trying to insert an IV in my right wrist and ended up hitting a valve. It was pretty painful and she ended up calling another nurse to insert an IV in my upper forearm while she cleaned up all the blood that had squirted everywhere...It hurt pretty badly that night and was tender the next day but then I thought the pain was going away. Well this week it has developed a pretty colorful bruise and it has been pretty tender and swollen. It's my dominant hand so it's just been painful and I keep forgetting to be gentle to it!
  • Miss anything: I've been having stronger contractions lately. Not necessarily more of them, but they are more intense and a bit painful - I'm assuming Braxton Hicks feel worse with your second delivery. I miss not feeling those and just being able to function without this pregnant belly getting in the way all the time!
  • Movement: He doesn't move as often as he used to and they feel more like sliding movements than actual kicks at this point. But he does move pretty consistently throughout the day.
  • Symptoms: Third trimester symptoms can be a little TMI, so read with caution. Gas, strong contractions, loose stool, menstrual-like cramps, round ligament pain, constant lower/upper back pain, excessive mucus, frequent urination, indigestion, tender and painful breasts.
  • Cravings: No crazy cravings this week. I've been a bit more thirsty - chugging that water like its my job!
  • Queasy or sick: Haven't felt sick this week, I've felt a little too full after a meal, but not sick.
  • Looking forward to: My Momma is coming in TWO WEEKS!! I am just so excited to get to visit with her for a bit before Levi comes and eat all of her delicious food, haha! I'm also pretty happy that Daphne will have a good amount of loving and attention before Levi's delivery because she's pretty much my Mom's favorite. :)

Another Wagner Baby: 36 Weeks

  • How far along: 36 weeks!
  • Gender: Baby boy - although I've been having dreams that we're having a girl! We have a sonogram scheduled for this week, so I might be asking them to just double check for me. Hah!
  • Weight gain: - 1 lb. this week, overall weight gain is at +27 lbs.
  • Maternity clothes: Lots of leggings and maternity tops!
  • Stretch marks: Ohhh yeah. I've been hopelessly applying more and more Moringa Body Butter all over my belly every day to try to turn back time but I think the road map is here to stay. Oh well, badge of honor for bearing children, right?
  • Sleep: This has been a horrible, horrible week for sleep. Carson was gone for a couple nights this week and I conveniently came down with something. I cleaned the entire apartment last Tuesday because...I don't know, nesting? I think my getting a sore throat/congestion was a reaction to the cleaning chemicals and the dust. ANYWAY, not only was I uncomfortable because - pregnant - but I was also really uncomfortable because I was feeling so crummy! I think I slept with every single pillow while he was gone in an effort to prop myself up so I could breathe and to prop myself up so I could sleep with Levi having a dance party in my belly!
  • Best moment this week: Daphne has been super cuddly this week, I've been loving it! It's like a little gift to be able to get in some more one-on-one time and snuggles with her like the old days before baby brother comes and my time is split.
  • Worst moment this week: Saturday was our 6th wedding anniversary and we already knew that we weren't really planning to do anything that day because we picked up some things for Levi this week and are still planning to purchase a double stroller - so funds are tight. Anyway, we went to church and I started having mild to strong contractions during the service. I began timing them while we were still at church around 7 pm as they were getting a bit stronger. I had contractions for weeks before Daphne's delivery, but they weren't as strong as these were. The contractions continued in consistency and intensity for about 3 more hours. Contractions lasting about 40 sec - 1 1/2 minutes long and about 5-10 min apart. We decided to go ahead and call Carson's sister to come over and be with Daphne and to go to the hospital. I think Carson was a little hesitant to go to the hospital because when it was "go-time" with Daphne I was pretty much yelling in pain and could barely walk, I wanted to go because I had no idea what was happening and had heard that sometimes the second delivery can go much faster, plus we were only 35 weeks and 4 days and I wasn't sure how Levi would do if born that early. After we got all hooked up to the monitors at the hospital, my contractions became much stronger and continued in consistency. After waiting to see if they would go away on their own by changing positions, the on-call doc decided to give me a shot of terbutaline and a bag of fluids. Within about 10 minutes the contractions had stopped and I was feeling much more comfortable. They checked my cervix again and it was closed so they sent us home! I'm so glad that we went to the hospital because I have no idea what would have happened had we stayed home and let the contractions continue. I was told to be on moderate bedrest and drink a lot of water, and that if the contractions came back and were consistent and painful to call my OB. I had a few painful contractions on Sunday morning but after a ton of water and a good nap, I've been feeling much better!
  • Miss anything: Sleeping comfortably!
  • Movement: His movements are not as big as they used to be, probably running out of room! But he moves pretty consistently, even during the contractions on Saturday he was moving a lot - which I was so thankful for!
  • Symptoms: Third trimester symptoms can be a little TMI, so read with caution. Gas, contractions (obviously), diarrhea, pretty bad lower/upper back pain, excessive mucus, frequent urination, heartburn, indigestion, leg pain.
  • Cravings: Haven't really had a big appetite this week. I've been eating a good bit of cereal though!
  • Queasy or sick: Just some indigestion and I did have heartburn one night.
  • Looking forward to: Our friends are coming into town this weekend to come see our other friend's new baby boy! We're excited to see them and visit with them even if its a whirlwind trip!
