High Five for Friday

1. Carson and I purchased an awesome vehicle this week! It's a 2005 Honda Odyssey (We named her Liza Jane....don't judge).

2. We found an awesome sushi place near us yesterday! I had the california and the spicy tuna rolls! So unbelievably delicious.

3. My amazing Canadian friend brought me back these chocolate chips from her homeland! I don't know what it is about these chips, or the cookie recipe on the back of the bag that makes them taste so perfect, but it is my favorite cookie. Chip-Its aren't available in the US so this was an exciting day for me :)

4. I have rediscovered my love for omlettes this past week, I've had like four. If you have a hard time mastering the omlette (like myself), watch this video for help!

5. Unfortunately I have had zero motivation for my online classes, but somehow studying with this little guy makes it just a little more bearable. If you are also a lover of chihuahuas, check out this adorable video! :) Ah, so cute!

January Birchbox

I'm the kind of girl who loves her beauty products. I have to be practically escorted out of Sephora. I love to try new products and when I heard about Birchbox I was instantly intrigued. It took me awhile to commit, but after receiving my first box, I can't wait until next month!

My first Birchbox had a wonderful variety of products that I'm excited to try!

Viva La Juicy perfume sample
100% Pure Body Cream in green apple
ModelCo SHINE Lipgloss in berry pink
Caudalie Radiance Day Cream
Number 4 Clarifying Lotion

Another item I received was this poster with 25 ideas to make 2013 awesome! The first idea was not to swear off carbs...I'm liking this poster!

I'll update you if I like any of these products enough to purchase them!

High Five for Friday

This is my very first H54F post, and I must admit it took me way too long to create this little image. So please, appreciate it :)

1. I have never seen the show "Sweeney Todd" and tonight I get to watch a few of my high school girls perform it at their school!

2. Okay, so this picture may seem confusing since this post is supposed to be the top 5 highs of my week. I was in my first car wreck and totaled my favorite car ever. It was a pretty rough couple of days. But, I'm grateful that the Lord protected me and that no one was seriously hurt. My amazing husband reminded me last night that there were issues with the rack and pinion (NO clue what that means) and perhaps this was the Lord's way of protecting us and other drivers on the road had something happened while we were driving. God is always sovereign.

3. Obviously the highlight of my whole week was when my Erin Condren planner arrived. :)

4. I have always loved cooking for me and my hubby. Since I started wo…

I love it when I get a word that is undeniably and directly from the Lord. My quiet time led me to this passage this morning.

Phil. 2:14-16 (The Message) -- "Do everything readily and cheerfully—no bickering, no second-guessing allowed! Go out into the world uncorrupted, a breath of fresh air in this squalid and polluted society. Provide people with a glimpse of good living and of the living God. Carry the light-giving Message into the night so I’ll have good cause to be proud of you on the day that Christ returns. You’ll be living proof that I didn’t go to all this work for nothing."

Little secret for ya, I really struggle with being joyful.

It has always been my natural tendency to be a "glass-half-empty" kind of person. I was told once by a friend that I always see the negative in situations before the positive and then I dwell on it. That really bothered me, so since then I have tried to be a positive person.

It hasn't really been working. Just ask my hus…

Erin Condren 2013 Life Planner Review

This being my first product review on this blog, it's only fitting that it has everything to do with being organized. I may not be the most organized person in the world, but I sure do love it when everything is in its place and I know exactly what's on my calendar for the next 10 years.

I found out about Erin Condren a couple months ago through a friend. I loved the idea of having a customizable planner that was also spiral-bound. I'm big into spirals for ANYTHING I have to write in. And this spiral is a BEAST. Love it.

As I did more research I realized that Erin Condren makes much more than just planners. She creates customizable iphone cases, wedding paraphernalia and even a little something for the men in our lives!

I finally committed to a style for my planner and placed my order, I may or may not have overreacted when it finally arrived.

First of all, can I just say that I appreciated the playful packaging? Good call, Erin. Good call.

I chose to put a shot of my…

Purposeful Marriage

So apparently the part of a person's personality that enables them to blog consistently is missing from mine.

It's one of my goals to become better at this, because I truly do enjoy it! I want to start adding more posts about beauty products that I've been trying as well as the reflective posts that I normally post.

Today's post is once again inspired by the book "What's It Like to Be Married to Me?". Author, Linda Dillow, asks her readers to create a marriage purpose statement. This can be anything that represents your goals and desires for yourself in your marriage.

As Dillow says, "It is a statement about what is really important to you as a wife". It can be a poem, prayer, passage of Scripture, acrostic or a letter to yourself. I chose to create an acrostic from my husband's name, and I'd like to share it with you :)

Converse respectfully
Argue lovingly
Respect sweetly
Stay consistent
Only speak fondly
Never take for granted
